Smoking Cessation/Smoking-Related Lung Disease

Smoking-related diseases claim an estimated 430,700 American lives each year. About half of the people who don’t quit smoking will die of smoking-related problems. These problems are not only lung related but also include cardiovascular disease and a higher incidence of stroke. Quitting smoking is important for a person’s health and provides many benefits. Soon after quitting, a person can expect improved circulation, blood pressure, breathing, smell and taste. The risk of getting cancer decreases with each year a person stays smoke-free.
